Cantoria is situated in the Almanzora valley, around 1 hour drive from the Almeria Capital city and its international airport.
Located on the fertile plain of the Almanzora river and next to it makes part of the rich Macael marble zone, which provides its principle economic resource, the town being home to one of the largest marble companies in the province of Almería.
Its second resource is agriculture, based on citrus groves, olive and almond productive trees. Water is always running from all surrounding mountains.
The abandonment of the old town –on the opposite side of the river- 16th century- created new Cantoria built to a formal plan of straight streets and uniform houses, typical spanish, above which the Parish Church rises. Today the town has all kind of modern services and amenities related to the growning tourist industrie: bars, discos, shops and banks.

Between Albox and the main Cantoria village there is a nice hamlet receiving its name from the regions name: Almanzora. This hamlet with all basic services is becoming very popular between foreign immigrants due to its charming surroundings plenty of orange and lemon groves. Particular attention is paid on the hamlet to renovation of the wonderful Palace of the Marquis of Almanzora from the 19th century and the railway station.
