Situated in the eastern part of the Almeria Province on the foothills of the Filabres and Bedar Mountains, approx. 10 km inland from Mojacar and Garrucha and 1 hour away from Almeria and its international airport. Antas has been in existence since the rule of the Moors but Its history as a settlement goes back to Neolithic times. Bronze Age and Roman remains have also been found. It is mainly an agricultural town situated in the basin of the River Aguas. The river irrigates its orchards of fruit and citrus trees, and its fields of lettuce and barley.

Special sites of interest are the Aqueduct from the beginning of the 20th century and some Archaeological remains.

Antas is now a semiurban community with some good restaurants, small shops, a post office, pharmacy, doctor's surgery and the inevitable 'local' bars. Being only a short trip to Mojacar and Garrucha beaches it is a nice village to find very good price properties of all types (villas, townhouses, apartments, etc.)and cortijos to renovate.
